Career Path As A Commercial Pilot in India

Join Airline as a Junior First Officer

After issue of CPL by DGCA, a pilot can join an Airline as a JFO, which is a short-lived trainee stage for approximately six months with a starting stipend.

Get Promoted as a First Officer

On completion of requisite training as a JFO, the pilot qualifies for co-pilot duties on large passenger aircraft and gets promoted to a First Officer with a handsome salary raise.

Obtain ATPL from DGCA

Commercial pilots can obtain an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) by passing DGCA tests and exams after accumulating 1500 hours of flying time, which usually takes 3-4 years.

Attain the Rank of Captain

After obtaining an ATPL & completing the required criteria for becoming a Pilot-in-Command, pilots are promoted to Captain with maximum responsibilities and higher pay.
